Introduction

The platform is designed with both managers and employees in mind.  For managers and team leads, the platform helps you better understand where, how, when, and with whom your employees are most engaged, productive, and innovative.  The data gathered in the platform allows managers to know what types of knowledge workers are in the firm, with an eye towards customizing workplace solutions that enable greater engagement and productivity.

For employees, the platform serves as an empowerment tool.  Over time, as we introduce the ‘My Workday App,’ the data are designed to facilitate individually customized workplace solutions for individuals and teams.  Today’s top knowledge workers want autonomy and agency in their work, and platform data are designed to facilitate this in the relationship between managers and employees.

  1. Getting Started

Companies join the beta version of OpenWork for free, creating a corporate account. An OW membership gives members of a particular company access to our three core baseline measures:

  • Work Style Navigator (WSN)

  • Openness Quotient (OQ)

  • Utilization Assessment (UA)

Work Style Navigator

The WSN is a short, 12 question survey that helps you understand the workplace composition of your company.  What is the mix of knowledge workers in the company- Traditionals, Floaters, Campers, Explorers, Nomads. The navigator is both an individual and organizational assessment.

Openness Quotient

The OQ assesses how transparent and flexible an organization is with respect to employee autonomy, engagement, innovation, and transparency.  Eighteen quick questions will give you your OQ score. The OQ is an organizational score.

Utilization Assessment

The UA uncovers the gap between where employees are assigned to work, on the one hand, and where they actually work most of the time, on the other.  The resulting metric is a workspace utilization and efficiency score.

Report

As part of the beta process, we provide a brief summary analysis and set of recommendations for company consideration.

   II. Transition Engagement

Workshop (Online or In-Person)

For companies looking to embark on the journey to coworking or activity based working (ABW) we schedule either an online or in-person discovery workshop to explore the baseline survey results.  Goal of the workshop is to co-create a transition roadmap

OpenWork Index

Ongoing engagements center on the OpenWork Index, which is real-time data gathered through brief (1-2 question) drip-surveys sent out (by email or SMS) once a week.  There are five qualitative components of the index:

  1. Employee Engagement

  2. Employee Productivity

  3. Employee Learning

  4. Employee Innovation

  5. Employee Health

Each week employees are polled on one of the five themes. Every five weeks a composite OW Index score is calculated and distributed to management and team leadership.

III.  OpenWork Campus and Out Placement

For companies that reach the conclusion that some form of off-site (or on-site) coworking solution is right for them, we assist with the placement into a workplace solution.  In 2019 we are launching a network of coworking spaces called the OpenWork Campus, and will introduce these to our member companies as they come online. Until then, we are happy to help place your new ‘coworkers’ into partner coworking spaces in your area.
